General
What is MyImageNinja?
MyImageNinja is a free online tool that converts PDF documents into JPG or PNG images and combines images into PDFs. It can process many files at once and includes a page editor for reordering, rotating and deleting pages. All processing happens inside your web browser.
Is it free to use?
Yes, completely. There is no paid plan, no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. The website is funded by advertising.
Do I need to install anything or create an account?
No. MyImageNinja runs in any modern browser on Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS, Android and iOS. Just open the page and add your files.
Which browsers are supported?
Recent versions of Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Safari and other Chromium-based browsers are supported. For the best performance with large files, use an up-to-date desktop browser.
Privacy & security
Are my files uploaded to your servers?
No. Your files are read and converted by your own browser on your own device. They are never uploaded to MyImageNinja or to anyone else, and we have no way to see them.
How can I check that my files stay on my device?
Open your browser's developer tools (F12 on most desktop browsers), switch to the Network tab and convert a file. You will see the website's own code and assets load, but no request that sends your document anywhere. Our guide Is it safe to convert PDFs online? walks through this step by step.
Is it safe to convert confidential documents?
Because nothing is uploaded, converting sensitive files such as contracts, bank statements or medical records with MyImageNinja does not expose them to a third-party server. As with any software, make sure you are using a trusted device and keep your browser up to date.
Do you use cookies?
MyImageNinja itself only stores your light/dark mode preference in your browser. Our advertising partners use cookies to show and measure ads. You can manage your choices at any time; see our Cookie Policy.
Files & limits
Which file types can I add?
PDF documents; images in JPG/JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and SVG formats; and ZIP or CBZ archives containing PDFs and images. Archives are unpacked automatically, including files in sub-folders and nested ZIP files.
Is there a file size or page limit?
We don't set a page limit. Large PDFs are read in chunks rather than loaded into memory all at once, but every converted page is kept in memory until you export, so the practical limit depends on your device. Computers typically handle hundreds of pages; phones and older devices may need smaller batches.
Can I convert several PDFs at the same time?
Yes. Select multiple PDFs at once or drop a ZIP archive. Pages from all documents appear in one workspace, labelled by their source file, and you can export them together or one document at a time. See how to convert multiple PDFs to images.
Can I convert password-protected PDFs?
Encrypted PDFs that require a password to open can't be converted directly. Open the file with its password in a PDF reader, save an unprotected copy (if you are authorised to do so), and convert that copy.
Output & quality
What resolution are the converted images?
Pages are rendered at up to twice their original size, which is about 144 DPI for standard pages. An A4 page becomes roughly 1190 × 1684 pixels and a US Letter page roughly 1224 × 1584 pixels. That is crisp on screens and suitable for most everyday printing. Read PDF to image quality explained for details.
Should I choose JPG or PNG?
JPG produces smaller files and is ideal for scans, photos and sharing. PNG keeps text and line art sharper and never adds compression artefacts when re-saved, at the cost of larger files. Read our JPG vs PNG comparison for details.
How are the output files named?
Images are numbered in the order shown in the editor. For a single document, files are named like page_01_report.png. When pages come from several documents, the name also includes the source file and original page number, for example 05_invoice_p2.png.
Can I turn the images back into a PDF?
Yes. In Export & Settings choose PDF to create one merged PDF, or Separate PDFs to export each original document individually. You can set the paper size (original, A4 or US Letter), orientation, margins, image fit and compression.
Will the text in my converted files be selectable?
No. Converting a page to an image turns everything on it, including text, into pixels. PDFs created from those images contain pictures of the pages. Keep your original PDF if you need searchable or selectable text.
Troubleshooting
The conversion is slow or the page stops responding. What can I do?
Very large or image-heavy PDFs need a lot of memory. Close other tabs and applications, convert fewer files at a time, or use a desktop computer instead of a phone. Restarting the browser frees up memory, too.
A page looks different from how it appears in my PDF reader.
Most PDFs render identically, but documents with unusual fonts, interactive XFA forms or damaged structures can occasionally differ. Try printing the document to a new PDF from your PDF reader and converting that copy. If the problem persists, let us know (without attaching confidential files).
Where do the downloaded files go on my phone?
On iPhone and iPad, downloads are saved to the Files app (usually in the Downloads folder); tap the ZIP file to extract the images. On Android, look in the Downloads folder of your Files app. Our phone guide walks through it step by step.
Nothing happens when I drop a file. Why?
Make sure JavaScript is enabled and that the file is one of the supported types. Some browser extensions block scripts or downloads; try a private window or temporarily disable extensions. Unsupported files are skipped with a message explaining why.
