This Privacy Policy explains what information MyImageNinja ("MyImageNinja", "we", "us" or "our") collects when you visit myimageninja.com (the "Website"), how we use it, who we share it with and the choices you have. By using the Website you acknowledge the practices described here.
The short version: the files you convert never leave your device. We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect your name or email address unless you choose to contact us. Like most free websites, we are funded by advertising, and our advertising partners use cookies as described below.
1. Files you convert
MyImageNinja converts PDFs, images and ZIP archives entirely inside your web browser. When you select or drop a file, it is read from your device by your browser, processed in your device's memory and offered back to you as a download.
- Your files and their contents are not uploaded to our servers or to any third party.
- We cannot see, access, copy, store or recover the files you convert.
- File data is held only temporarily in your browser's memory and is discarded when you clear the workspace, reload the page or close the tab.
Because no file content reaches us, nothing in this policy applies to the content of your documents.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information collected automatically
- Server and security logs. Like every website, the servers that deliver our pages (operated by our hosting and content-delivery providers) automatically record technical information such as your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring page, the pages requested and the date and time of the request. These logs are used to deliver the Website, keep it secure, prevent abuse and diagnose problems.
- Preferences stored on your device. If you switch between light and dark mode, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage under the key
theme. This value never leaves your device and is not used for tracking. - Cookies and similar technologies. Our advertising partners and consent-management provider may use cookies, local storage, pixels and similar technologies. See Advertising below and our Cookie Policy.
Analytics: we do not currently use third-party analytics services. If we introduce one in the future, we will update this policy and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first.
2.2 Information you provide
If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and the content of your message and any attachments. We use this only to respond to you and to keep a record of our correspondence. Please do not send us confidential documents.
3. Advertising
To keep MyImageNinja free, we display advertisements served by third-party advertising companies, such as Google AdSense and Media.net. These companies may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses and similar technologies to deliver ads, limit how often you see an ad, measure performance and, where permitted, show ads based on your interests.
3.1 Google
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this Website and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info.
- To learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
3.2 Media.net
Media.net and its partners may collect information such as your IP address, browser details and pages viewed in order to serve contextual and, where permitted, personalised ads. Learn more and find opt-out options in the Media.net Privacy Policy.
3.3 Other opt-out tools
- Network Advertising Initiative: optout.networkadvertising.org
- European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance: www.youronlinechoices.eu
- Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada: youradchoices.ca
Opting out does not stop ads from appearing; it means the ads you see will be less tailored to your interests.
3.4 Consent in the EEA, UK and Switzerland
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we use a Google-certified consent management platform to ask for your consent before personalised advertising cookies are used. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the link, which also appears in the footer of every page.
4. How we use information
- To operate, maintain and deliver the Website and its tools.
- To keep the Website secure, detect and prevent fraud, abuse and attacks.
- To display advertising that funds the Website, in line with your choices.
- To respond to your messages and requests.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms and Conditions.
5. Legal bases for processing (EEA and UK)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: our legitimate interests in running a secure and functional website (server logs, security); your consent for non-essential cookies and personalised advertising; and the steps needed to respond to your request when you contact us. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that took place before withdrawal.
6. How information is shared
We do not sell your personal information for money. Information may be shared with:
- Service providers that host and deliver the Website, acting on our behalf.
- Advertising partners such as Google and Media.net, which collect information directly through cookies and similar technologies as described above and process it under their own privacy policies.
- Authorities where we are required to do so by law, or to protect our rights, users or the public.
- A successor in the event of a merger, acquisition or transfer of the Website.
Under some US state laws, such as the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, allowing advertising partners to collect information through cookies for targeted advertising may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. You can opt out using the tools in section 3, your browser's cookie controls or, where available, the link.
7. International transfers
Our service providers and advertising partners may process information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, these transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
8. Data retention
Converted files are never stored by us. Server logs are kept only as long as needed for security and operations, in line with our hosting providers' retention periods. Emails are kept for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and for our records, after which they are deleted. Cookies set by advertising partners are retained for the periods described in our Cookie Policy.
9. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you and receive a copy of it;
- correct inaccurate information or ask us to delete it;
- object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent at any time;
- data portability;
- opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising;
- not be discriminated against for exercising your rights;
- lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
These rights are provided by laws including the GDPR and UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) and other US state privacy laws, and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Because we hold very little personal information (usually only emails you send us), most requests can be handled quickly. To exercise a right, email us at contact@myimageninja.com. For data collected by advertising partners, you can also contact them directly using the links above.
10. Children's privacy
The Website is a general-audience tool and is not directed at children under 13 (or under the age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
The Website is served over HTTPS and uses security headers that restrict which external resources pages may load. The strongest protection, however, is architectural: because your files are processed locally, there is no server-side copy of them that could be lost or breached. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security of information such as server logs or emails.
12. Third-party websites
The Website contains links to websites we do not operate. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, if the changes are significant, provide a more prominent notice on the Website.
14. Contact us
If you have questions about this policy or how your information is handled, contact us at contact@myimageninja.com or through our contact page.
