How to Convert PDF to JPG on iPhone and Android (No App Needed)

You don't need to install an app to turn PDF pages into photos on your phone. This guide shows how to convert a PDF to JPG in your phone's browser, and where to find the images afterwards on iPhone, iPad and Android.

Quick answer: open the PDF to JPG converter in Safari or Chrome, tap Choose files and pick your PDF, then open the Export & Settings tab, choose Images (ZIP) and tap Download. Open the ZIP in the Files app to get one JPG per page. No app, no account, and the PDF stays on your phone.

Convert PDF to JPG on iPhone and iPad

These steps work in Safari as well as Chrome or Firefox for iOS.

  1. Open the converter. Go to the PDF to JPG converter. JPG is already selected on that page.
  2. Pick your PDF. Tap Choose files, then Browse or Choose File, and select the PDF from the Files app, iCloud Drive or another location. You can select several PDFs at once.
  3. Wait for the pages. Each page appears as a thumbnail. Delete pages you don't need or rotate sideways ones.
  4. Export as JPG. Tap the Export & Settings tab, choose Images (ZIP), check that JPEG is selected, and tap the Download button. Confirm the download if Safari asks.
  5. Open the ZIP. Open the Files app, go to Downloads (or tap the download arrow in Safari) and tap the ZIP file. iOS extracts it into a folder of JPG images.
  6. Save to Photos (optional). In the extracted folder, tap Select, choose the images, tap the share button and pick Save Images. They now appear in your Photos library.

Convert PDF to JPG on Android

These steps use Chrome; other modern browsers work the same way.

  1. Open the converter. Visit the PDF to JPG converter in Chrome.
  2. Pick your PDF. Tap Choose files and select the PDF from your Downloads, Google Drive or another folder. Long-press to select several files.
  3. Review the pages. Remove or rotate pages as needed.
  4. Export as JPG. Open the Export & Settings tab, choose Images (ZIP) with JPEG selected and tap Download.
  5. Extract the images. Open your Files app (for example Files by Google), go to Downloads, tap the ZIP and choose Extract. The JPG files are saved in a new folder.
  6. View them in your gallery. Google Photos and most gallery apps show images from device folders; you may need to enable backup or "device folders" for the new folder.

Why not just take a screenshot?

A screenshot is fine for a single page you only need to glance at, but it has drawbacks:

  • The image is limited to your screen's resolution, so small text often becomes unreadable when zoomed.
  • You capture the status bar and app controls, so every screenshot needs cropping.
  • A 20-page document means 20 screenshots, each cropped by hand.

A converter renders each page at a consistent, higher resolution (about 1190 × 1684 pixels for an A4 page with MyImageNinja) and names the images in page order.

Tips for converting PDFs on a phone

  • Convert big batches in smaller groups. Phones have less memory available to a browser tab than computers. If a very large PDF slows down, convert part of it, download, then continue.
  • Keep the screen on. Switching apps mid-conversion can pause the browser tab.
  • Use JPG for sharing. JPG files are smaller and upload faster on mobile data. Choose PNG only if you need perfectly sharp text.
  • Unlock protected PDFs first. Password-protected PDFs need to be opened with the password and saved as an unprotected copy before converting.
